temp gauge on a 2.5 t4

hello my temp gauge has stoped working im wondering if anyone knows which sender sends to it, is it the one you can see from above (a black 2pin) or is it the one you can see from below (a blue 4 pin)


ive been looking at vagcat and elsawin and my money is on the 4 pin but the bloke in the parts shop recons its the 2 pin

i have a 1997 2.5l tdi t4 acv engine

ps do you think ill have to drain the coolent or can i getaway with popping it out and the new one in????????? thanks nic

Coolant temperature gauge sender is the 4 pin plug,the 2 pin plug is the temp sensor for the ECU.If you are quick you can insert a new sensor without loosing too much coolant

yeah changed the sender tonight and now the gauge works, spot on kenny i hardly lost any coolent thanks again
