Passat 2007
Hi all I'm new to this site so can anyone help,
I have a 2007 Passat 1.9TDI at 35,000 miles
Whenever gioing up the gears fron 1st to 2nd the gearbox crunches
all other gears are fine and when going down the gears 3rd to 2nd there is no issue, does anyone have any idea what is causing this ?

Re: Passat 2007 gears
Hi Rick,
The car crunches whether hot or cold, if i drive slowly and accellelerate slowly its fine, but most of my driving involves motorway exits where i have to accelletate quite quickly as i'm sure you understand. The car is due its second service in 2000k (next 3 weeks) I would like to have an idea of what to say and expect from the vw dealership during service
Thanks in advance

Re: Passat 2007 gears
Campaign 35a7On 5 speed manual gearboxes of a limited production period the friction values and thus the locking effect of the baulk ring may be reduced because of the combination of baulk ring (1/2 gear) and synthetic gear oil . When changing quickly from 1st to 2nd gear this can lead to noises and premature wear..

Re: Passat 2007 gears
Hi Kenny ,
Thanks for your reply, this campaign no ? does this mean it is a recognised fault or just an operational error ?
Thanks

Re: Passat 2007 gears
A recognised fault. The campaign 35a7 consists of changing the gear oil.As regards if it will help for your problem or not remains to be seen, when done.If not they will have to replace the 2nd gear syncro.
