I have just installed my Brodit Active Tomtom mount using a Dashmount bracket - I have wired it with inline fuse to the 12v cig lighter...
Does anyone know how to remove the panel beneath the heating controls (See picture)? I can get a screwdriver behind it but it won't budge and I don't want to force it... Is it just clipped in? I would like to put the wire behind it to make the installation neater.

I bought one of these for my Golf, albeit the non powered one which fits on the dash...
I was so disappointed with it that I removed it and put it in a drawer ruing the £30-odd that I'd spent on this rubbish.
It ruins the look of the car and makes it a prime target for thieves, if you have the slightest bit of common sense you'll ditch it... PDQ let alone try to wire it in!

That panel should just lever out. There are two push fit clips about a third of the way down on either side, and then it should just pull down towards you.

Could you post a picture of your cabin please? I was thinking of replacing the black trim around the stereo with grey or brushed aluminium look trim and noticed your's had the greyish trim.
