(Heater control) Its all back to front

Hi Everyone, (My first time here)

I just bought a yr 2000 Passat estate and have discovered something very odd.

All the heater controls except the fan up and fan down are reversed.

ie

Press hot button, temp readout goes up but in reality the car gets colder.https://www.vwaudiforum.co.uk/forum/i...lies/frown.gif

Press Cold button, temp readout gets less but car gets hotter.https://www.vwaudiforum.co.uk/forum/i...milies/mad.gif

Press windsreen demist button and fascia blowers work.

Press fascia blower and the footwell blowers work.

Press footwell blower and nothing works.

I cant tell what the recirculating button is doing but the car keeps steaming up with it off or on.

Is it possible to maybe reboot the heater controls or to reset them without taking the car to VW.
