Hi Has anyone considered upgrading the standard door speakers from a 2001 A6 to the factory supplied Bose option ? I wondered if the standard door cards will take the larger mids, 6.5 inch, and will the tweeters locate the same.
I have the symphony with in-dash changer module would this amplifier drive the bose drivers or is the impedance different. Any ideas ?

The bose option is installed in the rear RHS luggage compatment ans houses the sub and all the amplifiers for the stytem unlike the normal radio that uses its internal amps to frive all the door speakers. I do not hink the cable harness will be installed. So the first thing to do is find out whether the is a cable tied back behind the rear luggage RHS compartment. I have all the wiring diagrams but it does not detail if the harness is installed without the option. Regards Peter
i had wondered about this when i had my A4, and the main response i had then was that it is far from a simple swap to get everything working correctly/compatable.
Thanks Peter, Mines a 2.5tdi avant quattro 2001, late so I believe comes under 2002 model cct diags. The audio ccts. don't figure in Autodata so would appreciate anything you have on this to assist plumbing in the bose equipment.

It implies in the electronic manual that the 2002 model either comes with the cables in place or with the Bose system. Have you looked for the cable in the rear RHS. Regards Peter

I've taken the standard sub/amplifier out ready for the Bose kit. The only connector in this area is the red 10 pin to the sub/amp. This unit provides amplification for the rear door speaker and sub only, the head unit providing amplification for the front doors. The Bose system takes 4 + sub channels of line in and amps all speakers from the sub /amp assy.(thanks to the ccts you supplied)
I wonder if you have the ccts for the standard dash cd changer/radio to standard sub you could send me please ? I'm hoping I can work out from connector info, how to send line out for the front speakers to the Bose front 'line in' terminals. I'll then run decent quality speaker cable to the doors.
