Engine transplant

Im looking for some advice , I have a 1994 audi 80 2.3 Cabriolet , i had the engine rebuit 30,000 miles ago and had it chipped , i have had this car for over 5 years and im looking to create something a little special .

I would like to transplant a 2.2 tubo engine and gearbox and i intend to buy a donor car at some point this year ,

Is this a straight forward swap ?

A 2.2 20v turbo does not come with a 2wd gearbox. There were Audi 100 turbo 10v with 2wd but these are very rare now. Either turbo engine also needs the full fuel injection system and engine wiring loom/ECU to run it. These engines would probably mate to your existing box ok, but the gearing may not be ideal
Mechanically it is fairly straightforward, all of the parts required are available from other models. The electrics would be a sticking point for me!
