need some help! 2001 golf 1.6 manual "hunting" (revving itself) also un-staallable..drives itself

Need some help, my golf has started hunting badly, when stationary at traffic lights etc, it has done this before a few months back but only once or twice...however now its doing it all the time and as it revs up and down the headlights flash and dim...like a voltage problem? i dont have any warning lights on..plus i now cant stall it...as i release the clutch it just drives itself..without a foot on any peddle...a bit like an automatic...had anyone got any ideas? ive tried cleaning the throttle body (sprayed down it)...not made any difference...it had a new oxygen sensor before xmas in its service too...has anyone had this trouble?
