Re: 1999 Bora Engine Oil Problem
It is common to get a little bit of 'mayo' (emulsified oil) inside the breather/filler cap, but that does look a little excessive.
Check that your expansion tank is clean, and does not have any of the same scum floating in it.
Are you loosing any coolant?
What exact model is it?
Re: 1999 Bora Engine Oil Problem
Hi ini ,
Thanks for the reply.
It is Bora 1999 2.0 Benzin.
I checked Coolant it is not loosing.
Even i check the quality of coolant liquid if it is mixed with oil. I don´t see any oil mixing.
I Change oilfilter and oil just 2000 Km before and i did´nt see such suff around the cap. I see some loss of oil . I don´t see any leakage. My daily usage is also not much ie less than 6000 to 8000 Km per year. It well serviced and maintained. Before taking my car to any station i want to clarify it.
Do you think engine with be broken ?
Thank.
Re: 1999 Bora Engine Oil Problem
If you are only making short runs, there is is nothing to worry about, it is just condensation.
I would check that the filler cap seal is intact.
Just to be on the safe side, i would keep an eye on the oil and coolant levels for a while.
Re: 1999 Bora Engine Oil Problem
Thanks a lot for the info.
Some hours back i talk to one of the technician from VW.
He gave me 2 reasons:
1. Either Water is some how going inside the Engine. No idea from myside.
2. The quality of oil was ****. But i am really surprise i put a very good quality of engine oil. It was Shell Helix Ultra Extra 5W-30.
Do you think this can spoil the engine completly ? I hope i don´t have to buy or replace the complete engine.
If 2 is a reason than i can sue the station ? I think i will do it.
Re: 1999 Bora Engine Oil Problem
If you have no sign of oil or exhaust residue in the coolant, and there is no moisture on your cold engine oil dipstick, then you most likely do not have a problem.
The 2.0ltr & 1.8ltr are prone to this, it does not mean you have a gasket or leak/compression problem.
It is just water vapour condensing and forming the emulsion.
This will happen more if you make a lot of short trips.
A good long run will make the emulsion go away.
Re: 1999 Bora Engine Oil Problem
Hi ,
Well today i went to VW service to confirm this problem. Well as you said. If someone is driving in city than this appears more and engine will not break. He said VW Motor have special capability to remove water from öil which i did´t understand. The problem will be serious if you find oil in Coolant liquid. Than it should be carefully checked by VW guys.
Anyway Thanks s lot for your kind answers and help.
