Audi A4 - Problems Starting
Hello Everybody,
I have a Audi A4 1996 and basically whenever I try to start it the car will start and then all of a sudden it will cut out, after a while when you keep on trying to start the car it will finally start. Sometimes the car will start but wont hold on idle it will drop if you let go of the accelerator, and sometimes the car will rev high and low by it's self. When I do try to start it sometimes I would press the accelerator a bit and it will go up to about 4 revs then all of a sudden it will lose power and cut out.
I have tried going to the mechanics and having the computer VAG testing but nothing comes up so that’s no good
I have also tried to clean the MAF sensor on many occasions as I did think this could be where the problems lie, but that’s doesn’t work either.
I have currently disconnected the MAF sensor, and it has gone better then it was, it still cuts out when I try to start the car, so I mean what the problem could be. There is no smoke or any other sign of fault. Sometimes my petrol gauge will show on reserve then go back to normal but that could be something else,
I don’t know who to go to as it could be a simple sensor blown but cannot be traced by the computer, someone please help!!! :(
Re: Audi A4 - Problems Starting
Obviously this is a guess, But i would say you need a new MAF and you need check that the immobiliser is not cutting in. Do you get a yellow flashing light when the car cuts out?
A4 are known too have key reading issue, mine certainly did :D
Re: Audi A4 - Problems Starting
No i dont have the immo lights flashing so i dont think its that, but I have disconnected the MAF sensor, could it still cut out if the MAF sensor is faulty and disconnected? If the sensor is disconnected then why would it still be cutting out? I had AA out once and he said to me that the MAF sensor may be blowning, but he wasnt too sure, everytime I take the sensor out it is always covered in oil.
