Folding Mirrors ?

i was turning the mirror adjuster the other day and noticed a logo on the other side that looks like it folds the mirrors, so i turn the knob, and nothing,

Am i missing something here ?

It is common for the knob to break off, and then when you buy a new one, the knob with the folding symbol is the only one available these days.
