Engine Warning light flashing and car juddering! Help

Hi there, I wonder if anyone can help me. I have a 2003 A4 2.0 ltr petrol. This morning on my way to work, after about 5 mins of driving, the car started juddering and the Engine warning light started flashing.
I can't take it to a mechanic until tomorrow morning so I was wondering if anyone had any ideas what could be wrong?
I don't know if this has anything to do with it, but recently I have been refilling the oil pretty regularly, the oil light comes on every 2-3 months, I wouldn't usually expect to fill it this often. Could this be part of the problem?

Hi There,

The problem will be a failed Coil pack, casuing a misfire, hence the light flashing on and off.

The coil packs cost £25.00 each from Audi, you need 4 of them on your car..

You could buy one, and change cylinder one, if problem is still present, replace exisitng one and place new one into cylinder 2, and so on untill it runs fine again.

Once you have sorted that, look at replacing the other 3 as these all have the same life cycle.

Thanks for that info Rick, much appreciated. Can you tell me, is the car safe to drive for the short term? Or am I likely to cause more damage by doing so?

Cant't help with your problem but i also have been filing my oil up every 2 months with no apparant leaks..

sounds like coil pack gone as stated by RickT.

driving car should be avoided, till fixed as this can damage anything from the big ends, with the engine out of balance, to the bores through unburn fuel finally onto the catalitic convertor which can be killed by the unburn fuel.
