I ran Pirelli p-zero's on my Passat tdi 4 motion and got around 18k from a set.I found that the rears wore out as quick as the fronts with the 4 motion so became an expensive excercise at 5-600 quid every 18k
I have a V6 Syncro and use Pirelli P6000's, get about 30-35K miles out of them, mostly motorway driving (front wear somewhat faster than the rear).
£120 for a pair from Bracknell Tyre & Battery, no connection with them just a happy customer!
I had a Subaru Impreza...I know its a different car entirely, however it did go through all 4 tyres at around 10 -12,000 miles.
I think its the 4 wheel drive system, its harder on all the tyres.
If you`ve been happy with the grip and ride comfor, stay with what you had.
Changing brand will not make a massive difference in my opinion.

I've noticed better fuel economy when I switched from Firestones to Continental Eco 2 on my TDI Sport and the tread is deaper than anything else so definitely worth a look.
i know people say you get what you pay for but i dont beleave in buying brand name tyres.
ive bought 2 sets of budget tyres on the front of my tdi around £70 a pair and both sets have done around 10k and i also do a fair bit of towing
I have contieco contact on my passat and can easily get 15K.
I have also heard that P6000's are very durable...
To get most out of my tyres, I only buy 2 new front ones and put the used fronts at the back wheels... When the rear tyres wear off I get two new at the front and so on... Works really well. I've never had a case when I had to buy 4 tyres at once.
Yes, that's what I do. Even though the Syncro (4wd) should in theory give equal wear on front and rear, I find the front wear a bit quicker.
Just checking the records, since 91000 miles I have had 8 tyres fitted, and am now on about 164000. That works out as about 35K tyre life, so I'm a bit puzzled how some of you get such rapid wear.
I'm not sure how you are getting such good tyre life - pleeeeeease give us some lessons :D
I have Pirelli P6000's on my Passat 130PD Sport at the moment and will get about 19k out of the fronts.
The OEM Dunlop's on my old SE (RIP) were replaced at 22k...
