Who is the modern Audi owner?
What sort of person is an Audi driver, I have a feeling that they are a fairly well educated bunch, professionals/tradesmen/self employed maybe. Put simply, some cars say the driver should be in a shell suit with a baseball cap on the wrong way, others have owners with a very good income and stable home life, but still like their trainers, jeans with a shirt and a baseball cap that is an understated YSL label.
I am married with 3 daughters (twitch) and have been an aircraft tech for the past 18 years. So do I fit the profile?
Re: Who is the modern Audi owner?
I think the profile is changing. The brand used to stand for understated style; now I fear it is becoming diluted by the vast number of A3s and A4s on fleets and the migration of Mr **** from the BMW marque (3-series in particular).
Re: Who is the modern Audi owner?
The brand has changed , personally i`m a family man with two kids aged 43 doing a mundane job. Drove vauxhall`s prior to getting my a4 avant .1.9tdi. Not only is the audi a better class of vehicle- with less depreciation- people assume you have money cause you drive one !!!!!!!!!:biglaugh:. I could have bought a newer vectra, mondeo, mazda 6 for the same money, but they would be worth next to nothing by the time i trade it in.
1st audi, but it will not be my last.:beerchug:
Re: Who is the modern Audi owner?
I drive an A4, I'm 26 and in a decent job,
i think the stereotype type of an Audi driver is that he/she likes quality and a badge to prove success.
As above, with more A3's and A2's been on the road this is opening the door for an average family to own one.
With the expansion with company car sales, the Audi TDI engines have placed businesses in the position of investing a little more on their fleets knowing that the return in the form of MPG (tax reasons) and resale value are in their favor.
The Audi badge still has the prestige factor, Any day of the week i would tell anyone i own an Audi... if i was a BMW driver i think i would keep quiet... any other lower quality make is not worth talking about.. LOL.. :biglaugh:

Not me, I drive a VW;)
Re: Who is the modern Audi owner?
I think that your point about company investment carries over to the private owner. We are all quite accustomed to buying a TV, washing machine, a computer, a Ford and thinking "what a great buy", then four years down the line (if that) we are looking for a replacement as it's already broken down beyond repair or just plain out of date. So what are we paying so much for?
Buying an Audi for me has put an answer to that question. Mine is a 1996 and going strong and it will for a long time to come. Look on Ebay for Ford/Vauxhall/Renault and an old one is a 1995 which leaves a trail of engine parts and fumes in it's wake. Look at the Audi's and you find a time warp to the mid eighties, but these cars are running and looking great.

Well said,
As you say, if you have a look for a Ford/Vauxhall/Renault from aroud 1995-1996 you would only expect to give around the price of a packet of crisps compared to the Audi's and even VW's in that matter...
VAG's the best.. full stop.. LOL :biglaugh:

Re: Who is the modern Audi owner?
I'm not sure who is a typical Audi owner, but I've heard the saying a few times that nice people drive Saabs and Audis, the rest drive BMWs.

Rick
Vectra
Dashboard buttons
Twin Turbo still slower than a 170 TDI VAG
and
You're 26 and are looking at them at least 20 years too soon.
Not getting at you Rick but why do some people see the Saab as a prestige car. Granted they used to be, but not now they are in bed with Vauxhall.
There is a reason why they are cheaper and have more kit than the equivalent A4.
