exhaust

i have a 1999 1.6 golf SE. i believe the exhaust on it at the moment is the one from new? i think? lol. the car has done about 92000 miles,

i am looking to add a preformance exhaust system, but i dont want to add it if the exhaust that is one it is still good...

when duz the exhaust on a car need changing? when it blows or just when it reaches a x amout of miles or age? im not too sure?????? can some one heeellllp thanx

when it breaks you replace it, no need otherwise, if your going for a full system, i would use milltek, they are about the best you can get.

oh okay. but how long do they usually last? coz i dnt want to have a blown exhaust and not have any money to replace it. so just as a time band realy...or duz that not matter?

how long they last depends on how the car is used, so if you only do short trips and the exhaust pipes do not get hot enought and dry out then the water in them will rust the metal faster then if you do lots of long trips, if you do happen to have to replace it, it will not cost that much, i should thing not more than £60-£70.
