Rattle from steering column

Hi

I am after some advice, I have just got a 2004 A3 and am noticing that when I go around corners etc I have this rattle from the steering column, it almost sounds like there is a bottle of tablets or something rolling around. Any one know what this may be or how to solve it? Is the plastic around the steering column hard to get off so I can have a look?

I would be interested in feedback to this because I have a similar problem. When I reverse out of the garage and put a tight lock on the steering wheel I can hear a rubbing noise through the steering column. Although I am not unduly worried about, what seems to be a minor problem, it would be nice to cure it. I run a A3 sportback on an 05 plate.
