Re: how to program a new key
thanks for the reply but reading that it would cost me almost £300 for the Vag-Com prog + the required cable + the cost of the key, my idea was to try to reduce the initial outlay not increase it.
then theres the problem of actually getting it right first time and not screwing things up.
what has happened to getting a new key for a tenner from any key-cutter?
seem like all car manufacturers just dream of a number and double it these days, knowing full well we cant do this ourselves without massive initial outlay.
oh for the olden days of motoring where you could actually service your own motor, these days its a small mortgage just for an oil change.

i can assure you, it will cost you nowhere near £300 :)
do remember, when looking at doing things yourself, it's often not that much cheaper, first time around, with the things such as vagtacho, you have to treat them as an investment, which will repay itself after a few uses :)
You have a pm on it's way :beerchug:
Re: how to program a new key
thanks for the responses, i know all too well about the investment thing, its just that i was trying to cut down on the cost of a simple spare key which is all it would be :)
i have looked at Gendan regarding code readers and the likes for my own car (Renault Laguna II) and am going to purchase a reader so i can reset the engine managemeent light and other simple things, that again costs about £60, with having 2 cars that cost doubles, and as i am a tight yorkshireman then i dont like spending money in this fashion
eshrules, i will be in touch with you after christmas about the key coding, i live in Huddersfield so its only a 20 mile run. need to get the key ordered first unless you know of somewhere to get one from?
thanks all for the replies.

hi,
in regards to gendan, i may be wrong here, but i was under the impression Gendan is only a transponder cloner.... these are quite hit or miss with their function, but its your choice, i would advise you to do some heavy research before purchasing one though.
secondly, if you are looking to buy a scanner, why not take a look at my range, which have been reduced by up to £25 on some of my items, the v-checkers i can personally recommend.
when you say you need a key, are you referring to the blade only, or the fob as well? rough price for fob and key cut would be approx £60.
there is a chap on ebay who cuts keys, called pat boyle, i can pass you his details if you wish, but please let him know eshrules-enterprises sent you ;)
if you've got any issues, drop me a pm or email ;)
Re: how to program a new key
The car we have does not have remote locking so its a simple key
im assuming you mean the remote central locking fob, we wouldnt need that,
but there is something within the key for the Immobilisor i believe, which needs programming, thats where the cost becomes extortion !
i will check out the Ebay bloke.
thanks, will be in touch later
Re: how to program a new key
anyone know anywhere i can get a key for less than £52, thats the price our local dealer has quoted?
