Sharan 1997 TDI Cluster Lights

:1zhelp:Hello,
I have just got a Sharan 1997 tdi and the Cluster Lights dont work?
All the other dash lights work around heater controls and warning lights on cluster (coil,battery,oil etc) I have checked all fues. Also the dimer works that controls the lights

I removed cluster and checked bulbs ect but no luck! The only thing I can find is a diod on cluster near where the red plug goes in looks like it has got hot as it has melted the plastic it is neer on the red plug???

Is there anything else I can test? Can you have the cluster repaired? Or how much does a new cluster cost??
