I recently had two tyres fitted to VW Polo. I then asked for the tracking to be tested- of course it needed doing!
On driving the car it constantly needs slight correction on the steering wheel to stop the car going to the right. Previously the car went in a straight line.
There is a slight knock in the steering which I am told is wear in the rack, this was there before and after the tyre change.
The garage that did the tyres and the tracking subsequently said they could not re-check the tracking because of the possible worn rack, but when I insisted the checked it and said it was perfect(!)
Surely the tracking is independent of the steering rack?
Any comments?
