Passat Estate High Level Brake Light

Hi

I have an 03 Passat Sport Estate and my high level brake light doesn't work. I have had the boot trim off and I can get it to work, but when I put it all back together again it doesn't. How annoying is that?

As it's a strip of LEDs, I suspect that it the printed circuit board is cracked, although it may be a loose connection somewhere, that I might be able to fix. Something tells me that if it is the PCB then I'd be better off chucking it away and getting a new one. I guess this would be expensive from a dealer - anybody got any idea?

Failing that, are they compatible with any other models, e.g. Gold, Audi, etc, might help me if I am trying to get one on the cheap from a breakers...
