gearbox service

hi folks
i am planning on servicing my gearbox but unsure of the correct kit to buy as usure of which auto gearbox is in my 2004 A4 2ltr petrol
. does anyone know where i can find this info TIA.

The box is a GGS code of the 01J series, the Multitronic (chronic) CVT. The were notoriously unreliable in their day so it’s nice to see one still going and as an exchange unit from Audi it has been obsolete sine 2018. One filter is in the pressure line but that is obsolete too. The CVT fluid is G 052 180 and the dry capacity is 7.7 litres. The differential oil is separate and G 055 190. The other filter is inside the box and means removing the rear cover to change but it isn’t a bad job; the gasket (01J 301 463 A) is only available genuine from Tradition and there are two filters used, 01J 301 517 B and D. To determine which you need requires establishing the casing number and this is difficult to view with the parts system being no help as it was never available as a spare part; so the easiest way is to remove the old filter to see what it is but that means having both to hand to avoid downtime and one is also only available genuine from Tradition. Aftermarket wise, the fluid is widely available such as two cans (4L) of Febi 193916 and the filters are also available such as the Febi 170014 (517 B) and 170883 (517 D) which come with the gasket. The differential oil (G 055 190) is straightforward 75w/85 GL-5, so Febi 48785. You need to get the box to between 30 and e0 degrees to do the level set, I start it at 30.

iv had the car around 3 years now just under 59k beautiful car do drive but started to have a little hiccup on occasion between 1.5k rpm & 2k rpm so checked the oil level and it had over filled it seemed when i removed fill fill plug around a ltr came out the fill hole.

NO! Don't drive it now, you can't check the fluid level like that, it now has insufficient fluid.
