Leaking charge cooler / supercharger 2021 RS4

Hi guys,


So my local Audi dealership have had my RS4 in for a week investigating an unexplained loss of coolant. No external signs of leaks have been found. They have finally confirmed that the charge cooler/supercharger is leaking internally and that this is now with Audi warranty to agree the repair. Now I don't see any reason why they would refuse the repair and assuming they do give the go ahead for repair, I am left wondering if this fault will reappear in a few years? From what I've read it's a common fault on the S4/RS4's. Does anybody know if the charge cooler/supercharger has been re-engineered to prevent this from happening again?

The charge air cooler was revised February 2019 but yours was built October 2020 and no revision since.

Thank you Crasher. That’s a shame, was hoping a revised unit would be released as from what I’ve read this is a fairly common problem. Is 5 years a reasonable life time for the intercooler I wonder? So I have to believe I am unlucky and it won’t happen again. Audi warranty have accepted the repair which is good news, the bad news the charge air cooler is on back order and not due into the Audi dealership until next week! So another week without the car.

Will look forward to getting the car back. Mind you, the PCV is still the original, so guess that’s potentially another “leaking coolant” time bomb!

Back orders on genuine VAG parts is a real problem at the moment.

Yeah feels like VAG have dropped the ball here somewhat! At my dealers there are several cars off the road as they await parts to be delivered. Not what you expect really.
