Re: Yes im a bloody plonker
First precaution, cover one’s end, i.e. birth control, then cover the car
Re: Yes im a bloody plonker
Haha yeah im with you on that…on both counts. Getting old so couldnt put it off any longer!
Anyway please what do you reckon the issue could be with the car? Can do mechanics no probs but electrics hmmm..not my strong point so i need to find what im in for.
Re: Yes im a bloody plonker
To help, I need a full car scan of all the cars controllers using VCDS, saved as a .txt file and including the VIN. Then with the engine running, turn the steering from lock to lock three times. Next clear all the fault codes and then do another full scan and save. Finally, post both full scans.

Thanks Crash…. Unfortunately i dont have vcds, just an autel scanner that gave the results i posted earler. Ill do the steering thing as you recommended and get back after doing another scan. Scariest fault code is 04160 but theres something else with the ESP.With these A6s where us the most common place for there to be water damage and what should i look out for? Thanks for your help, it looks like the A6 portion of the forum has a lot less viewers compared to when i last got help 6 years ago (different log in details…firgot min)… and whole load more ads haha.
Re: Yes im a bloody plonker
Without a full VCDS scan I am stuck trying to help.
Re: Yes im a bloody plonker
Just a thought, as you have had it sat for a few years you should inspect the wiring looms in the engine bay in case of rodent damage.

From memory your a mechanic by trade so saying you know nothing without a vcds scan despite knowing the symptoms seems a bit unlikely to me or at least I hope it's not the case.
I appreciate your time in replying nonetheless and thank you.

Thanks Dan, it's what I'm currently doing or muddling my way through it. The injectors on bank 2 are all registering the same resistance which is odd as I'd always thought I had a dodgy injector that finally gave out. Perhaps one is still gone though, I was prepared to do the long screwdriver test of listening to the spring tapping in the injector but unfortunately the car wouldn't start now.
The wiring seems to be ok and I've just had a look at the ecu which again looks OK. After watching a few tutorials about checking for continuity in wiring I'm going to soon have a punt at that... Though there is alot if wiring and I'm colourblind haha so wish me luck.
Gotta find a free place for wiring diagram.
Rodents, in my south london car park there's no rats or mice just spiders etc.

Why free when everything is €7 on erWin?
