Gearbox Service Kits - 0AW and NDU
I need to service the gearbox on a 2014 A4 Avant FWD with gearbox code NDU. All the kits I find which are listed as for 0AW gearbox, are they the same or do I need a different kit?
thanks
Adam

NDU is 0AW serines, in the case of the NDU 0AW 300 046 R 006. The fluid is G 052 516 A2. A standard drain will only get approx. 50% of the old fluid out, to get approx 90% out, a special purging procedure is required whereby you can get approx 6 litres out of the 8 litre dry capacity. The externally accessible filter is 0AW 301 516 H and we would use the Febi 176878 kit

Thanks, ordered a kit. Is the procedure to get the extra oil out described anywhere? I have watched a couple of videos where you hook out a little tube to get more oil out, is it more involved than that?
Re: Gearbox Service Kits - 0AW and NDU
Quite involved, I can't post it on here without a lot of effort so go to erWin and download the procedure for €7. This is the menu for the procedure.
Special tools and workshop equipment required |
t |
Vehicle diagnostic tester |
A normal ATF change involves replacing only approx. 55 ... 60 % of the total ATF in the gearbox. |
The “ATF purging procedure” has to be employed if all the old ATF in the gearbox is to be removed. |
ATF purging is always necessary when performing the following work: |
t |
Renewing the input shaft |
t |
Servicing the input shaft |
This involves performing the road test twice, as described below, and then changing the ATF. |
This is the only way to ensure complete renewal of the ATF in the gearbox. |
The work required for the ATF purging procedure is described below in seven steps. |
Caution
Risk of damage to gearbox |
It is important to exactly follow all the described steps. |
|
– |
Fill up with ATF after installing gearbox → Chapter „Filling up with ATF (for ATF purging procedure)“. |
1. |
→ Chapter „Road test (for ATF purging procedure)“. |
2. |

5. |

7. |
Check and correct ATF level → multitronic 0AW, front-wheel drive; Rep. gr.37; ATF; Checking ATF level. |
Note
Observe all notes and test requirements for “Checking and correcting ATF level”. |
Checking the ATF level completes the purging procedure. |
