Re: 1.4TSi GT rear caliper
I've brought the seal kit now but I have one question. Can I leave the car in the lining brake change mode and switch the car off while I work on the caliper? I'd expect I can but I just want to be sure that I do it the right way
Re: 1.4TSi GT rear caliper
The discs are part number 5Q0 615 601 D and 272x10 and pads 5Q0 698 451 AK. Yes you can leave the car in lining mode indefinitely if not driven; I will be surprised if you can rebuild the caliper successfully but bear in mind a brand new Febi caliper with motor can be bought for less than £200.
Re: 1.4TSi GT rear caliper
Thanks @Crasher. Do you have the caliper part number to hand too please? Sounds like I'll need to order that as well but let me have a go first. Thanks

Re: 1.4TSi GT rear caliper
Perfect and I've just ordered. Thanks @Crasher. I was having a look yesterday and noticed that the dust shield could do with replacing. I've been reading mixed write ups on the net with some saying the wheel hub has to come off to replace. Can someone confirm if this is correct?
Re: 1.4TSi GT rear caliper
Access to corroded bolts is easier with the hub off.
Re: 1.4TSi GT rear caliper
Replaced the caliper yesterday but the brakes don't feel right even after I bled the system manually. Had my son press the pedal down while I opened the valve and release with the valve closed with a rubber tube attached. Also I now feeling the clutch is slipping? The brake fluid level did drop but I topped this up so didn't go that low. VAG-COM has some bleeding functions, do I need to use any of them?
Any suggestions?
Re: 1.4TSi GT rear caliper
Yes it does have ABS pump run and ABS/ESP function outputs which can help the bleed but this shouldn't be necessary unless air got back to the ABS pump. We always pressure bleed the system at 1.5Bar.
