Golf 8 GTI progressive steering and DCC: “for 19 inch wheels”
Hi , I picked up a Mk8 GTI yesterday.
(I know the mk8.5 is round the corner but I needed one now and I liked the Mk8 despite its infotainment quibbles. )
It came with 19 inch rims.
I will be doing a lot of commuting and getting through tyres so I did think I might change the wheels to 18” rims, for cheaper tyres.
However , the spec of my GTI includes :
*Adaptive Chassis Control DCC… for 19-inch alloy
wheels
and
Progressive steering… for 19-inch alloy wheels*
The question I have is , does the DCC and progressive steering … both “for 19 inch wheels” … mean that it would invalidate the warranty if the wheels were to be replaced with smaller ones ? And/or that the DCC and/or progressive steering would not work as well or even jeopardise safety ?
I would be grateful for an expert view on this please ! Thank you.
Re: Golf 8 GTI progressive steering and DCC: “for 19 inch wheels”
Too new for me but I would expect it would need at least some soft coding changes and possibly map changes. With how the Golf 8’s systems are locked down with SFD access (stage 2 is coming) which Ross Tech are still working on then the coding would need to be done using the dealer system ODIS and that is IF there are protocols for this modification. Apparently OBD11 have sorted SFD access but I haven’t used it although how they are dealing with the new TOTP (Two factor authentication) I don’t know.
