P2084 Fault -EGT Sensor 2 Causes? & coolant loss
Hi all,
I've recently started getting an intermittent fault code P2084 (EGT Sensor 2, implausible signal, intermittent). This results in the car going into 'limp mode'.
Switching off the car and restarting allows the car to drive normally. It can be weeks between the fault occurring.
I'm also seeing a small amount of coolant loss with no obvious signs of a leak. I'm therefore suspecting that the EGR cooler may be leaking. Could an EGR cooler leak also cause the EGT sensor fault? I belive the sensor is located downstream of the EGR cooler so seems plausible to me.
It looks like quite an involved job to replace the cooler so I'm just wanting to get a bit more confidence that it could be the issue.
The car is a 2014 A4, 2.0 Tdi ultra (163bhp), CNHC engine.
Any help/advice is gratefully recieved.
Cheers,
Phil

Involved doesn’t do the job justice. They fail because they get effin hot and then when a trace of coolant hits it, the signal drops implausibly and generates a matching code.

Yeah, not looking forward to it.
From what I can tell, it can be mostly done from the top of the engine bay, removing the scuttle 'bulkhead' airbox, and associated coolant pipework. Struggling to find any real guidqnce online. Will get a cooler ordered and see how I get on. I'm expecting its a full days work to swap it out......
Can't see any other obvious reasons triggering it to go into limp mode. Hopefully it solves my coolant loss if nothing else...
