VW Caddy 2010 1.6 tdi - no crank no start no glow plug light
Hi all, sorry first post to the Forum, after some advice with a 2010 caddy 1.6tdi suffering no crank no start symptoms. the glow plug light is not visable when the ignition is on and if trying normally the van will not start or crank at all.
traced some of the symptons of this issue out to be around relay 100 in teh engine bay fuse board. but beleive this is presenting as a silution but instead should help me pointt o teh sympton but im a little lost now.
should the supply to this relay be readable across the relevant terminals for the relay supply? if i link out the load side of the relay the fuel pump whirls into action and the van will at least crank however with no start and stil no glow plug lights.
would anybody have any sensible alternative sugestions to help diagnose this issue please?
if testing with vcds i get communciation faults but i think these are all due to a no supply issue>

There is no power to the engine ECU and someone has had a battery charger on it running at too high a voltage but the power to the ECU failed first so it probably isn’t over voltage damaged. It is possibly the ECU relay number 100 (part number 1K0 906 381) and I would use a relay tester to see if it works then bridge out the terminals corresponding to the relay pins 30 and 87 to see if the engine ran. The relay receives a command from the body control module (from memory it is an earth command permanent live) which itself receives a digital command from the steering column electrics in response to the ignition switch position.
