can someone please tell me how to fit a gear gaiter to a mk 4 golf, does it just clip in ?
Hi, I changed my gear gator a couple of days ago on my Golf MK 4 and wasn't as hard as I thought it would be!
To remove the gear knob you will need to loosen the clip that clamps the gear knob to the gear shaft (which is at the top of the gear shaft, under the gator).
Firstly, lift up the gear gator by undoing the elasticated bottom of the gator, pull this up as far as possible so you have access to the clip that is clamped onto the gear shaft. To loosen the clip use a flat head screw driver to gently force out the clip, once this has loosened the gear knob will just slide off.
The only problem I faced was tightening the clip after the gear knob/gator had been replaced to prevent the gear knob from moving or coming loose. As this clip was very hard to tighten I just replaced it with a small jubilee clip.
Hope this helps.
