Mk 5 Golf 2006 GT TDI 140 turbo? Power issues? Any help
I was driving on the motorway today and all of a sudden the power wasn’t there to accelerate quickly, possibly from the turbo? Not sure. It still builds up speed but lacking the initial power. No white smoke, no whistling from the turbo. Engine still revs to over 4000rpm. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Any symptoms of clutch slip?
Check the colour of the diesel in the fuel filter: if it's black, it may be contaminated with oil, indicating that the gasket on the tandem pump has failed.
Re: Mk 5 Golf 2006 GT TDI 140 turbo? Power issues? Any help
Thank you for your response, No clutch slip, neither any mix in the filter. I have put an OBD II scanner on and it’s come up with a few fault codes: 16618 turbo/supercharger overboost condition, 19557 intake flap motor open circuit/short circuit to ground, 19558 intake flap Moyer no signal, 17056/7/8 cylinder 2,3 and 4 flow plug circuit. 16955 cruise/break switch (a) circ malfunction. So now I don’t know where to start first. Any advice would be appreciated. Thank you
Re: Mk 5 Golf 2006 GT TDI 140 turbo? Power issues? Any help
Overboost fault code would suggest turbo is stuck/gummed up but if it doesn't have control of the intake valve that restriction in flow could also cause overboost! I think if the overboost fault is always present with the intake valve fault I would be inclined towards treating the valve first
Re: Mk 5 Golf 2006 GT TDI 140 turbo? Power issues? Any help
Thanks you for your advice, I will look at the intake flap and fuses. Hopefully will have some joy.I did drive it earlier, and there was no power loss but the fault codes did appear.

With a BKD engine overboost in nearly always a carbon fouled up boost control system, standard job, turbo off and rebuilt and circa £1k including oil and filter.

" 19557 intake flap motor open circuit/short circuit to ground, 19558 intake flap Moyer no signal,"
Are these couple of fault codes above relating to a wiring issue?

Could be burnt out motor for the flap

Failure of the V157 in the closed position means the engine cannot run, failure in the open position reduces the ability of the ECU to control EGR flow, makes the engine shudder on shut down and leaves the engine unable to be shut down in the event of runaway.
