is TBA neccessary after battery disconnect?
Hi all,
I want to clean up my battery terminals so need to disconnect it. I had errors thrown up while driving so think it was a battery issue, all solved itself after leaving the car off for a few minutes.
I read online that a battery disconnect resets the ECU and also requires a TBA.
Can anyone confirm if this is necessary, or does it not matter?
Is there a way to reset it without VCDS, some posts say to just put ignition on and floor the accelerator for like 10 seconds or something.
it is a 2016 Polo 1.0 TSI.
Thank you
Ji

It should be done but isn’t always necessary.

Ok thanks crasher, guess I can risk it and hope all is well when I disconnect it, lol.
How can I know if it's throttle cable or DBW, & more specifically which connection method ? (UDS, KWP-2000 / CAN or KW-1281?)

It is drive by wire, without VCDS that is all you need to know.

I have access to VCDS at my dads house, so that should tell me, right?

It will have the function, Basic Settings 04, group 060, start, wait 30 seconds (whirring and clicking), exit basic settings and Engine 01, ignition off for 30 seconds, ignition on, wait 30 seconds (whirring and clicking) and start.
