2000 A4 1.8 20v (non turbo) performance and economy issues
Hi all,
Me again with my 2000 A4 1.8 20V (non-turbo) SE Manual, which has covered just 48,000 miles. I still think that performance of the car just isn't what it used to be and it is also not as efficient on fuel as it used to be.
The car used to feel brisker and used to do 27 to 28 mpg round town if you drove smoothly. Now it struggles to do better than 23 to 24 mpg.
I've had a new clutch fitted recently and last week I also had a new engine temperature sensor fitted. The exhaust emissions have been checked and are fine as well. The car has been plugged into a diagnostics computer and that did not show that anything was wrong either, but I am convinced the car is not performing how it used to.
Would anyone have any ideas as to what else could be causing this?
Any help/suggestions would be much appreciated.
Many thanks,
Manoj

Check your spark plugs, they need to be NGK or nothing, oh and they do make that much of a difference.
