Q7 DAB Radio Retrofit Help!
Hey guys, I have a 2006 Q7 with the MMI2 High system installed. Have tried retrofitting a DAB tuner to the car and all seems to work fine, comes up on the MMI, but as soon as I switch the ignition on, the sound goes after a few seconds. The guy fitting the DAB has tried looking around and has no idea what the cause is.
Any help appreciated.

Have you fitted a genuine Audi DAB module? If so, does it have component protection? If the answers to both questions are yes, you'll need to get the CP removed.
Good luck.

Hi thanks so much for the reply. It’s a Kenwood DAB tuner from what I can see.
Re: Q7 DAB Radio Retrofit Help!
To fit dab to the car you should be replacing the module in the boot with a dab module. Then that would have to have an aeriel soldered to the rear quarter window on the drivers side. As MFGF advises The module will more than likely have component protect that in laymens terms means give Mr audi some dollars and he will remove for you, there might be work around but that would depend on your lock audio shops technology.

Hi Speed Demon,
I have a standalone Kenwood ready to fit. Do you have any pictures of exactly where it goes in the boot setup? I've also seen there is an all in one Audi am/fm/dab unit that goes in place of the am/fm but I can't find the part number.
Finally I'm looking at DAB+ now and I don't think the Kenwood unit has it (happy to be corrected). The stations I listen to have moved over to DAB+ and I can't hear it on my old garage dab radio any more, only on the kitchen radio.
