Key Lock

Dear Forum,
Car A4 B5 2015 - Avant. A couple of days ago whilst driving the key fob just fell out of the slot on the dashboard. I could stop and start the car as normal but the key would not lock in the slot. No error message on dashboard. Today still the same but I now get a message "Key lock faulty" and a picture of a key with a cross through it. Is there a fix or do I have to replace the key slot?
