A4 quattro 2T Fsi STronic purchase
Hi everyone,
I'm looking to purchase an A4 B8.5 (2015) quattro with S Tronic after some nonce wrote off my previous A4 (58reg) last month. I won't go into that because it will just pee me off lol.
Anyway. The car has done 35k and I'm not sure if it's had the gearbox service. If it hasn't, would it be reasonable to use that as a bargaining tool during haggling the price?
I test drove and and was very impressed. I have had 2 A4s in the past, both manual and both FWD so with this being a quattro, is there any downsides to it aside from the maintenance cost of the drivetrain vs the FWD? My B8 had the axle tramp on acceleration sometimes, I just figured the 2l tfsi engine was too much for a fwd car.
I've read the DSG requires maintenance every 38k miles, but I barely do 4k miles a year.
Also, my 2009 B8 had the oil consumption issue: used to get 1000 miles from litre of oil. Can someone tell me if this affects the B8.5 models? How reliable is the STronic on the later B8s? I know the earlier ones had mechatronic unit faults which were extremely expensive to repair.
Is there anything I need to be aware of before I purchase. It has has 2 Audi services, last one at 30k I think. I'll have to double check. How much more is the maintenance cost of quattro vs fwd and dsg vs manual.
Any tips and guidance would be appreciated.
Thanks

Re: A4 quattro 2T Fsi STronic purchase
Gearbox service is every 38k. I note the car has had only 2 services in 4 year, longlife services are mostly discouraged. I appreciate it's a low mileage vehicle. The gearbox service is the only extra cost however, I would have a (rear) Diff.oil change thrown in at some point.
I can't comment on later model oil consumption though.
