Wireless carplay

Hi, just seen this on my YouTube feed, wondered if anyone else had seen and if anyone had experience of this unit, looks interesting.

Not seen that before. Seems like it just "converts" the normal USB connection to a wireless one and the phone doesnt know any different.. but does that mean therefore it needs to be on the "wifi" of that dongle - which I suspect - so you then can't have it on the normal Car Wifi hotspot simultaneously.

Would be interested to know how that works. If it connected via WiFi would that not stop the phone’s own internet connection? Unless maybe it uses wireless tethering i.e. your phone creates a WiFi network the dongle connects to and shares he phone’s internet connection.

Well this finally arrived today
Carlinkit CarPlay Wireless Activator USB Dongle Suitable Original car Built in Wired CarPlay Wired to Wireless-in TV Receiver for Car from Automobiles & Motorcycles on AliExpress

Looks identical to the version I posted above, but nearly half the price, either this is the Chinese knock off, or the one I found previously is a white labeled version trying their luck. Anyway, appears to work, well test a bit more over the coming days.

Look forward to hearing about it, if all works well I'll get one on order as they have 20% off at the moment..

Thanks for the update Nbedford. Looks promising... I see it says CarPlay is wireless, but AA still appears to be "wired only"

Wireless Android auto would be good although I don't find plugging in much hassle
