Cruise control wire 13

Is there an easy way to check if my car has the extra wire running from the ecu to the steering control module that some golfs need in order to retrofit cruise control? Obviously I could take the steering wheel off and check the connector but this seems a little OTT for a single wire. I could also buy a kit with the wire just in case but if I don’t need it then I’ve paid for a kit when all I needed was a stalk.
It seems 2006 or later cars had this, but does that mean any car on an 06 plate (like mine) or is there a cut off?
