Load helicopter like sound
Hi All,
I have a Volkswagen Golf GT TDI 140. Car has just gone past 130k miles with the bulk being motorway miles.
In the last 6 months I've had a whirring helicopter type sound coming from the front passengers side of the car. It gets louder when I'm at a higher speed and also when I'm at high revs. I've taken it to a garage and they have said that nothing is wrong with the car and that it is in perfect nick.
Does anyone have any idea what the issue could be?

Badly worn plastic tyres or worn bearing. Swap a pair of wheels&tyres from a friend and go for a test drive.

Thanks for the reply. Car has 4 new tyres so definitely not that. Car drives fine.

I know its strange, but even new and brand tyres can sometimes be noisy. So it good to swap it for another pair, just to put the out of the equation.
Does the sound change when you turn the wheel left an right? If it does its a bearing. A6 (as many VWs) are notorious for eating bearings and CV joints for breakfast.

Good shout on the turning left and right. Makes a different sound when turning left. Turns out its the wheel bearing. Getting it fixed today.
