Blower motor
Well this is unexpected, my blower motor is squeeling like a piglet. I’ve now read up on the issue and it seems quite common but seriously, this car is a 2014, can’t a prestige manufacturer make motors of better quality
£255 to supply a motor which on any other brand I’ve owned over many years hasn’t been an issue grrrrrrrrrrr

Re: Blower motor
I had the same issue recently.
Honestly took me a whole of 30 mins to pull the the motor out, use a air line to clean it off, then lubed up the bearing amd the noises are gone.

Re: Blower motor
I've just acquired a 2014 Q7 and tried the front demist tonight only to find the fan didn't work!! Then it came on for 2-3 seconds and stopped again, for a minute and on again for 2-3 seconds. I've tried to manually turn up the fan but the same behaviour, on for 2-3 seconds then off again. Very frustrating as it doesn't really clear the screen, let alone warm the cabin properly.
Up until tonight I just assumed the blower was very quiet and doing its thing in the background, I assume de-mist should run the blower at full blast?
Thanks for any advice on this subject.

Re: Blower motor
So I bought an inexpensive code reader (AP200) and its confirmed I have an issue with the blower, directed me to the Ross-Tech wiki on the error which says its either the blower or blower controller or maybe wired connections. Tonight the wife had a misted up windscreen so it's now my highest priority to fix!
Also it turns out that the fan will run ok up to level 6 but anything more than that and it just cuts out.
I ordered the controller and I'll post back if it resolves the issue.

Re: Blower motor
same thing happened to mine/i bit the bullet and bought a new fan from a local parts supplier.£180.00.
removing/replacing is not to difficult.
i stripped the old one and cleaned/relubed but have not tried it.
ive seen replacement fan motor assemblies on ebay for about £60/80.
but how good are they???

Re: Blower motor
I went with replacing the controller (febi bilstein 39753 Control Device for blower £42)
. The First one I ordered come from a German based euro part provider and arrived 7 days after ordering with a broken lug. I complained and sent them pictures but they didn't want to give me my money back! Anyway ordered exact same part from evil Amazon and it arrived next day!!
Anyway replacing the controller was very easy, didn't even need to disconnect all the connectors on the glove box. The new part has fixed the problem and de-mist now works as expected and the blower runs at full speed if turned up.
One odd thing is that my reader doesn't seem to clear the AC error, I'll try it again in a day or two but maybe I've still got some underlying issue? Don't care too much as the blower is working and its quiet enough, no squeaking or rumbling anyway.

Re: Blower motor
My VW passat 2006 blower motor only works on speed 4. Changed the blower resistor. It's still the same. When you put the speed on 1, 2, or 3 blower doesn't work, but the blower motor resistor gets really hot and after a while fuse 39 , 40A gets burnout.
Changed the motor and control panel but problem is still the same. Does anyone have any idea about what would be the issue here?
