Wheel size
Hi, need some advise. My wife bought a 2010 VW Beetle with 205/55/R16 wheels/tyres. I am selling a 2004 Passat with a set of 195/60/R15 winter tyres. Will these be ok to use on the Beetle or are there fitting/insurance implications? I will keep them for the Beetle if they are suitable. Thanks

Re: Wheel size
PCD will be ok but you need to check the ET or offset, this is cast into the wheel on the inside of the spokes or the front around the bolt holes. I used to interchange a set of 16" golf MK5 alloys with ET50mm onto my B5 passat (likely the same as your passats ET37 15" ) for winter, so the golf wheels sat 13mm further inside the arch but I never had any problems with clearance. If the 2010 beetle wheels are ET 50mm you will find the passat ET37mm wheels will stand out from the arches a bit, maybe not ideal in winter! and unless you have big calipers and discs and they wont fit, the 15" wheels will run closer to the beetles calipers than the 16" originals. No comment regarding insurance, some say you need to inform them, I doubt if many people actually do.
