Touran 54 plate, front off side (driver) wiper motor not working
Any guidance would be appreciated, please give any replys in a simple format as cars are not my thing. Anyway here is the problem:
Passenger wiper motor works, driver side doesn't. I've removed wiper arms to check spindle is not just rotating without moving the arm.
I've got a 2nd hand motor that I presumed had been checked however when I plugged it in no change.
This is were I need guidance:
I've tried testing replacement motor as per you tube video - grounding the outer casing of motor and putting a direct power line from battery to pin in socket on motor that would receive power from battery if pluged in - nothing happends
To check I was doing it right and replacement motor wasn't knackered I've also done the same with the working motor and still same result
The ground wire is a good connection
This is what the plugs are giving me when not plugged into motors and engine off:
Driver side: 3 wires
Black/ red wire - 11.94v between it and earth (brown wire)
Blue wire - 0v (between it and earth )
Brown - earth
Passenger plug: 4 wires
Black/ red wire - 12.7v between it and earth
Blue wire - 0v (between it and earth )
Purple/ white wire - 11v between it and earth
Brown wire - earth
This is what happens when I plug into motors:
Driver side
Black/ red wire - 12.7v between it and earth
Blue wire - 13v (between it and earth )
Brown - earth
Passenger side:
Black/ red wire - 12.7v between it and earth
Blue wire - 11v (between it and earth )
Purple/ white wire - 11v between it and earth
Brown wire - earth
There is no link between blue to blue wires.(when using ohm meter, not sure if there should be one)
I've put everything thing back, disconnected/ reconnected battery, checked fuses under steering wheel and box next to battery all looks good.
Any ideas as to why both motors either can't be tested as per you tube video or if I've power to plugs why doesn't driver motor work when plugged in.
Also linkages seem to be fine, moving freely
