Should I buy an Audi A4 2015 CVT Automatic?
Hi folks as a newbie to Audi’s I thought this would be a good place to get some advice. I am in the market for a second hand A4 Avant. I have found a 2015 Audi A4 Automatic CVT. the car is mint inside and out, 70k miles and has a full service history. My mechanic has advised me to stay away from CVT autos and I can see from some research on the Internet they have caused people trouble. What is your experience? Should I avoid or if I regularly change the transmission fluid every 30k or so should I be ok?

I have a 1.8tfsi CVT box and I have also seen some people have problems, a few of which had their cars remapped. Mine has been fine, it's going to Audi for gearbox oil at £225 in a couple of weeks. Only slight incling of a problem I have is a small shudder when going into neutral but it's never amounted to anything. Best of luck with your purchase btw mine has 111k miles.

Sorry if this is a tad late, but I have a 2011 B8 avant 143 bhp with over 131k on it. I spare it no quarter and has not let me down yet however, be sure that the gearbox has had an oil change at 38-39 k religiously (audi £165) or walk away as there are plenty of them for sale in autotrader. Mine is an se with enough toys on it to suffice, belt and pump changed at 120k £250 (indie) oil filter (£5) every 5k and oil every 10k myself. Rear window wiper motor got replaced at £65 (myself) front left headlamp washer £100 (indie) that's about really apart from tyres and brakes.

I had Audi A4 cvt 2011, it was smooth drive but it has a lag when you take off it takes off after a few seconds and is trouble to pull off in traffic specially on at red light.Got rid of mine, also the gearbox is prone to many problems not to mention its very expensive stay away from cvt’s.

There is no difference what car you are buying, any gearbox, any engine, any component can and will eventually break.
Keep in mind that car can break down and it will need some investments.
If you feel you can not afford to fix it, just buy a bit cheaper car you will be comfortable with.
