The dreaded p2015 (mkv tsi 170)
Afternoon all!
Brand new member here so apologies if I've missed or crossed any forum rules 😓
Wondered if anyone could give me any pointers regarding the p2015 error code?
I have been resetting it as a temporary measure seeing as the car doesn't seem any worse for wear. The problem I have is that although there are countless tdi/b8 posts and videos showing you how to fix the manifold, I am the (proud)? Owner of a 2008 tsi 170 and cannot seem to find a great deal of information/videos on this models engine in particular regarding the manifold issue.
In short if anyone has any experience with a mkv tsi or knows a forum member who does before I start taking a spanner to it, I would greatly appreciate any help or pointers.
All the best and have a great day all 😁👍

On the BLG engine, the code
18447 (P2015) - Intake Manifold Flap Position Sensor (Bank 1): Implausible Signal
Is referring to the output from the G336 “Intake Manifold flap potentiometer” which is vacuum operated by the N316 solenoid valve. This could be due to the valve not operating, the flaps being stuck/damaged/bent or the potentiometer being faulty. I have being dealing with this on an A3 2L FSI today and it was a worn out manifold which had to be replaced which is quite easy, the one on the BLG is not and the parts are daft money.
Often this code is due to the manifold having been removed and replaced in the incorrect way, if the flaps are not held in a specific setting position, fitting them bends the system and it is impossible to recalibrate. If the potentiometer is faulty, the manifold has to be removed to replace it and this is a huge task involving the fuel injectors coming out and the Teflon seals on these MUST be replaced if they come out and this requires a special tool set of seal installers.
I think you should get it rescanned using proper VAG specific equipment as I have known codes be wrong and this one makes me worry it could be referring to the regulating flap which is much less of a nightmare. With the car on VAG specific equipment, the Basic Setting of the inlet manifold flap should be attempted which is done in block 142.
To be honest I find this engine a bit of a nightmare, we have a GT with the identical 140PS version, and they can be an absolute sketch, the one we have we basically took in settlement of the bill for where it was up to as the owner simply could not afford to fit it and we still have a lot to do. The engine may have won engine of the year about five times but when they get old they are a disaster.
