Fuse 15 blowing and dis dead

This problem started this morning, I turned the lights on as usual and the dis display died and the space by the mileage now shows Fuse. I changed fuse no.15 and everything worked again until I turned the lights on and pop the fuse blew again and back to stage1. I have found that if I totally unplug the dashboard and put the lights to on then the fuse remains fine, I'm thinking that something has gone involving the lighting in the actual dash itself and is causing a short. Anyone heard of this happening before, thanks once again. And my car is a 2001 audi a3 8l 1.8t.
