audi S8 D4 front brake pads
My brake pad warning light came on the other day, after replacing rear pads and having been told that the front pads were Ok (50% left). Investigation by the dealer indicated that corrosion on the inner brake disk had caused damage to the sensor but pads were still Ok. The only solution offered was new pads at £560!
a few questions if anyone can help
1. how many pad sensors are there on the s8
2. As anyone used any other pads (other than Audi) and could recommend
3. How difficult are they to change?
many thanks
Re: audi S8 D4 front brake pads
Front or rear discs corroded?
A 1-2mm 'lip' can appear on the outer edge of the disc due to the pads not extending to the edge of the disc and consequently this lip will cut into the wear sensor making it trip the wear sensor 1-2mm early. If it was me, I would cut the cable FROM THE PADS and twist together and heatshrink it to cancel the warning. NB, do NOT cut the wires that are part of the vehicle's structured cabling, cut the ones on the pads that will get disposed of with the pads.
