Front windscreen dismisting
Hi, Newbie......first time....:D
I have a 2016 saloon A6 Quattro S-line black edition, very happy with it. The only issue that I have is with demisting the front windscreen, I notice the last few evening with the rain and moderate outside temp that the window mists up very quickly. I have to keep using the front window demister button, while it works, it is driven me mad because it uses the AC on a cold setting. So I am wondering how you owners set your fan/AC etc to keep the window clear? Or is this the only method, a blast of AC?
Thanks.
Re: Front windscreen dismisting
Blasting ac is the most effective way of doing it. Other option is to keep ac on all the time and the air will be dry. This uses a little bit more fuel but it’s almost negligible.
My sister has one of those pouches that catches moisture that’s pretty effective. Just leave it in the centre console and it does the job, just need to dry it out now and again. £5 on amazon.
Re: Front windscreen dismisting
Hi Don't know how to change settings in your car, but you can try to use some chemistry here. These bottles you can buy in any automotive shop which sells car chemistry. Shouldn't be too expensive. They prevent vindows from misting and there are ones you can use on interior side. Off course you won't get rid of the issue completely, but it will definitely help.
Re: Front windscreen dismisting
I leave my AC on all year round, it keeps the system working and I've never had an issue with misting up.
Re: Front windscreen dismisting
As with others I also leave the AC on all the time and have little if any issues with misting on the inside, except when there is ice on the screen. Do find at this time of year though that I need to keep the wipers running to clear the dew on the outside of the screen to stop it remisting until the screen has warmed up
Re: Front windscreen dismisting
also check AC setting in MMI is not economy = doesnt work.
Re: Front windscreen dismisting
I keep my AC on all the time. I feel that inside air gets humid and heave without AC. I don't like it. That's also the reason why you get mist on the windscreen.

Re: Front windscreen dismisting
Leave AC on all the time. This has negligible impact on running cost... and may even save future maintenance/repair costs from the system not circulating; better to keep it circulating all the time.

Re: Front windscreen dismisting
Cat litter (sand) is as good and much cheaper. And you can reuse it - if you have a cat...
Re: Front windscreen dismisting
AC on at all times, stops all that I find......cannot see the point in buying cars with these things fitted and not using them.
