Any Real Issues With Not Buying From Your Local Dealer?
I had a good look and this seemed the best section for this.
I am about to buy a new Golf but my local dealer hasn't been easy to deal with (often failing to return calls etc) and has been really pushy which I find off putting. Also, another dealer a bit further away has been much easier to deal with and offered a better price. Someone told me there can be problems with your local dealer if you have any issues with the car and didn't buy it from them. I think that's a bit silly personally.
Is there really anything to be concerned about if I don't buy from my local dealer but want to take it to them under warranty if there are any issues?
Does it make any difference if it is different groups? Where I want to buy from is Lookers but my local is Inchcape.

I would say no, they are both approved dealers for Volkswagen, and if they did offer a poor service or penalise you in anyway you can always report them to Volkswagen..
I purchased a new Skoda Superb in June 2014 from the dealer in York, two weeks later whilst in South Wales I had an issue with the air conditioning which the dealer in the area looked at and offered me the same great service...

As above you can take it to any dealership for repairs. Shouldn't be an issue

I got abuse from Audi in Eastbourne when they encoded my cruise control my local garage fitted, Audi Brighton have always been fantastic though, had my car an hour with a roof issue, couldn't find anything wrong after resetting it, didn't charge me :)
