Tow bar and wiring question
Hey guys.
So I got my C7 Quattro avant in the end.
I am now in need of a tow bar! So... been ringing round every bugger for prices and it's apparent that there is a massive difference between an Audi approved wiring kit and an after market non standard wiring kit.
£340 for a one man band to come and mobile for a non approved detachable bar
Or
£470-535 for an Audi approved detachable at a tow bar centre
What should I do.
I'll be towing a trailer tent a few times a year
The approved one is supposed to activate the tow stability system

Definitely go for the approved system, when mine was fitted and coded to the car, it alters a lot of different systems including gearbox, diff, throttle and of course give the stability program for the trailer. Mine even knows the difference between a trailer and caravan as different pictures come up on the screen when you activate the parking sensors

Re: Tow bar and wiring question
I would go for approved wiring kit. I've seen some towbar fitters completely butcher the existing wiring loom fitting relays etc and if not done properly it can cause errors in the light circuits as the A6 uses led lights and even a slight current draw will cause errors.
Also it's easier to remove when you come to sell as the approved kits are mostly just plug and play.
