Hi all,I don't know if this as been covered already but I cant find it if it has, or even if It's in the correct place so please forgive my Ignorance if it is.
When I come to a stop and go into neutral or just keep the clutch down more often than not the engine will be over revving to around 1,000 rpm. If I switch off and re-start it will be back to around 6-8 hundred rpm. Has anyone else suffered this and if so what was the cause and how did you fix it. TIA everyone.

What car do you have? You have posted in the VW Up! section of the forum.
They don't have 2.5 litre diesel engines. Does this give you a clue as to why no-one is responding...
