Attachment 1293Attachment 1292Hello JMJ,there is no timing belt.The engine is chain driven and should be good for aprox lifetime of the engine,however the tensioner heal may wear which would be higlighted by a metalic rattle.To replace the timing chain it would require the gearbox to be removed as the chain is at the gearbox end of the engine.If you are refering to the ribbed alternator belt i would advise it is relaced at 60,000 miles.Attachment 1293

your a star thank you for the info no wonder i couldnt find any info on a belt change! cos it doesnt have one lol!!

looking at a mk3 vr6 with 130k on the clock vgc just doing my home work thats all,

any info of things i should look out for would be much appreciated, i no my mk1's but lost when it comes to mk3's :D

the only thing i could fault the car with is a banging noise from the front suspension over large bumps, the car has been lowered so suspect shocks? but i thought more likely tobe knackered top mounts?!
