Brakes Locking on Emergency Braking
Hi Guys,
Installed a New Set of Front & Rear Brake Pads on my 2010 Jetta 2.0L TDI DSG.
On my drive, I deliberately emergency braked to check if my ABS/ESP was working fine. However, I was shocked to notice that my Brakes locked up and the pedal was stuck (pressed position) until the vehicle came to absolute stand still. My observation - The ABS seems to be kicking in at the right time, its just when you emergency brake/brake hard, the pedal keep the brakes locked up. I returned to the workshop and bled the system but no positive result.
Any idea what could be possible wrong?
Thanks in advance.
Re: Brakes Locking on Emergency Braking
partially seized caliper at the front or rear if discs right round
jack up car and press hard on brakes then release, then spin each wheel to see what wheel feels harder to spin than the others
OR
take for a drive of say 20 minutes of normal driving, then feel wheel nuts to see if any really hot, indicating dragging brake/ partially seized caliper. the front may feel slightly warmer as it does most of the braking
feel the nuts or area round them, as the bearing or hub in centre of wheel will not transfer the heat
Another problem is that the discs , if not changed have a ring of rust at the top of the discs, or at the bottom.......................... this will stick the pads to the disc, you can gently tap this ring off at the top........................ don't whack it so you get cracked discs . I usually get 1 disc to 2 sets of pads, out of mine ................................. but with electronic handbrake I do a disc change with every pad change in rears only .................... to try and stop sticking handbrake problems

Hey Guys,
Apologies for writing after so long.
Someone had messed up with the lines going into the ABS Module. Rectified that and it's now working flawless.
Thanks for your suggestions.
